We already talked about E Coli which live in our gut and make vitamins for us. Some strains appear in the news from time to time because of their toxicity. Recently reported that a change in cow's diet may provide protection.

Bacteria can double in numbers every 20 minutes and it wouldn't be long before we were waist high in bacteria if there weren't limits to their growth
