Ultrahigh Vacuum Chamber

The custom-designed UHV chamber (Perkin Elmer), made of stainless steel 304, has a base pressure of ~4 x 10^-11 Torr. The minimal surface area and volume (~30 liters) facilitate rapid evacuation following elevated pressure experiments. Despite its small volume, the chamber is versatile with 19 ports arranged in two levels in an octagonal pattern on a 12-in. diameter cylinder.
