
Directions for Launching excel from a website
Mac using Netscape
- click on hyperlink
- if you receive a warning message, choose "pick app"
- click "desktop" on the right
- double click on the "Macintosh HD" in the window on the left
- double click on "Microsoft Office 98" in the window on the left
- double lick on Microsoft Excel
topMac using Internet Explorer
- go to "Edit" menu on the toolbar
- choose "preferences "
- click "File Helpers" in the left window
- in the right window, scroll down to and highlight "Excel Spreadsheet" (NOTE: there is more than one "Excel Spreadsheet" option, choose the one with the extension ".xls" on the right)
- click the "change " button below
- in the third box, change the "download destination" to "Prompt"
- in the fourth box ("Handling") change "How to handle" to" "Post-Process with Application
- click "OK" in the Edit File helper screen
- click "OK" in the Internet Explorer Preferences screen
- Click on link
- Double click on downloaded file

- check "open it"
- click "OK"

- go to "View" menu on the toolbar
- choose "Options "
- click the "programs" tab
- click "file types" in the "viewers" box
- scroll down to Microsoft Excel Worksheet"
- click "edit" on right
- click "OPEN" in the "Actions" box
- click "Edit" below
- next to "Application used to perform action" click "Browse "
- find Microsoft Excel (excel.exe) &endash; click on my computer, then (C:) &endash; then try MsOffice folder, excel folder, excel.exe. This may vary by computer
- click "OK"
- click "Close"
- click "Close"
- click "OK"
- click excel link
- check "Open it" click "OK"
