SEMINAR: NANOSCIENCE AND NANOTECHNOLOGY (CHEM 306)

The course focuses on the emergence of nanoscience and nanotechnology over the last several decades. Questions to be addressed include the nature of nanoscience and nanotechnology, the principles that enable us to predict behavior over nanometer length scales, how nanomaterials are made and organized, how nanotechnology is affecting our lives and the promises and pitfalls of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Emphasis will be placed on materials' properties, interactions, and functions, the synthesis, assembly and characterization of various classes of nanostructured materials and current and future applications of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
