Teaching Interests and Activities:
As an inorganic chemist, I enjoy teaching general chemistry courses and advanced inorganic courses. I have also taught analytical chemistry. I am a part-time assistant professor at Wellesley College.
Research Interests and Activities:
Two projects: Recently I have started working in the area of halide exchange in specific palladium complexes. A second project involves clay minerals. I am most interested in clays which, for whatever reason, emit light. One thread of my research involves the interaction of organic species with the clay montmorillonite. We have found that the organic product solution and the clay residue both can be highly emissive. The goal of our research is to discover the origin of the emitted light.
Additional Interests and Activities:
My interests include running and spending time with my family (especially kids sports). I play the piano and hope to some day find time to practice.
