Mary Eames Ucci

Education Director

Mary Ucci came to this position with over 25 years of experience teaching preschool and kindergarten children. Arriving at the Child Study Center in 1976, she served as Lead Teacher of the oldest group until 1992 when she assumed the position as director. Mary completed her undergraduate degree at Connecticut College and went on to graduate studies at the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study at Tufts University. She currently serves as a board member of the CCDLA (Council of Child Development Laboratory Administrators), writes a regular column for the Child Health Alert newsletter, is a policy board member and curriculum consultant for the Hammond Square Preschool in Woburn, MA, and lectures and consults to schools in the area. Her special interest is the establishment of developmentally appropriate environments for young children. Mary is married and has two children and six grandchildren.


Larissa Blustein

Co-Lead Teacher, Youngest Group

Larissa Blustein graduated from Wellesley College in 2003 with a B.A. in Psychology as well as French. She first came to the Child Study Center in 2000 as a volunteer in the Middle Group. Larissa returned to the CSC as an Assistant Teacher/Intern in the Youngest Group in 2004, and has been a Lead Teacher in that group since the fall of 2006. Larissa completed a M.A. in Applied Developmental Psychology at Boston College in 2008. She is currently working toward a doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction, also at Boston College.

 


Susan Ferguson

Co-Lead Teacher, Youngest Group

Susan Ferguson has been working with young children for a period of twenty years. She graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Vermont in 1988. She has worked with children in a variety of settings including childcare, early intervention, and research at Wellesley Center for Research on Women. Susan joined the Wellesley Child Study center in 2006 as an Assistant Teacher/ Intern in the youngest group. She is married and has two boys. Susan enjoys spending time with her family, taking walks in nature and reading.


Becky Geer

Lead Teacher, Middle Group

Becky Geer has been teaching young children for over 10 years. She began her teaching career in 1997, teaching a diverse group of preschoolers in a Head Start Program. Later, she served as a Preschool Special Educator and Case Manager in Barrington, New Hampshire. Becky currently serves as Adjunct Faculty at Great Bay Community College, teaching for the Early Childhood Education and Teacher Preparation departments. Becky completed her undergraduate degree at Granite State College and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Lesley University in 2004. In her free time, Becky enjoys running, bookbinding, and yoga.


Susan Kerr

Lead Teacher, Oldest Group

Susan Kerr has been teaching preschool aged children since 1982. Sue received a B.A. in English at Colby College and did graduate work in Early Childhood Education at Wheelock College. She lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for five years, and while there worked in a Social Assistant Work Department nursery. Upon returning to the U.S., Sue worked as an Assistant Teacher/Intern in the Youngest Group at the Child Study Center, was a Lead Teacher in the middle group for two years, and has been a Lead Teacher in the oldest group since 1995. Sue has two boys of her own.
