Introduction
In collaboration
with the faculty, the Class Deans serve as the central academic advisors
for all Wellesley students. Entering students are deaned by the Dean
of First-year Students. After the first year, every class is guided
through their undergraduate years by one dean from the beginning
of their sophomore year through graduation. The three-year tenure
of a Class Dean with her class provides systematic overall advising
for students, encompassing the range of developmental and academic
issues that students confront in the sophomore, junior and senior
years. These issues include choosing a major, deciding whether to
stay at Wellesley or study abroad in the junior year, connecting
the undergraduate liberal arts experience with planning careers,
and defining an education in the context of personal and moral development. |
