Installation Instructions - Macintosh
Where to find this software at Wellesley
The KeyServed version of Adobe Acrobat be found on all of the computers
in the Knapp Media and Technology Center, as well as on those in the Science
Center Mail Room.
This KeyServed version was purchased for faculty and staff. Students are
encouraged to use Acrobat on the computers in the Knapp Media and Technology
Center.
System Requirements
- PowerPC® G3, G4, or G5 processor
- Mac OS X v.10.2.8 , 10.3, 10.4
- 128MB of RAM (256MB recommended)
- 495MB of available hard-disk space
- CD-ROM drive
KeyAccess
Make sure you have KeyAccess installed. Adobe Acrobat is a KeyServed software,
and
KeyAccess is your "key" to using any KeyServed applications on our
network.
To see if you already have KeyAccess installed
- From the Go menu select Applications.
- Scroll down through the list and look for a folder called Sassafras
K2.
- If you have the Sassafras K2 folder in your Applications folder,
you already have KeyAccess installed on your computer. If you don't see
the Sassafras K2 folder, follow the link below to the KeyAccess
installation instructions.

Uninstall Adobe Acrobat 5 before continuing!
Do you have the full version of Acrobat 5 installed on your computer? If you
do, you will need to uninstall it before installing
Acrobat 7.
- Go to Macintosh HD > Applications folder.
- Look for a folder called Adobe Acrobat 5.0.
- Drag the Adobe Acrobat 5.0 folder to the trash.
- Empty the trash.
Installing Acrobat 7
- Check out the Adobe Installers for Mac CD case from the
Knapp Center or the Science Library.
- Find the Acrobat 7 Installer CD from the case and insert
it into your CD-ROM.
- Double click on Macintosh HD icon on your Desktop to open it, then
locate the Applications folder.
- Open the Acrobat 7 CD on your Desktop and find the Adobe
Acrobat 7.0 Professional folder on the CD.
- Drag the entire Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional folder
to Macintosh
HD > Applications so
that it is copied there.
- Eject the CD and put it back in the case.
- Find the Adobe Folder Installer CD from the case and insert
it into your CD-ROM.
- Double click on Macintosh HD icon on your Desktop to open it, then
locate the Library folder.
- Open the Library folder and find the Application Support folder.
- Open the Adobe Folder CD on your Desktop and find the Adobe folder
on the CD.
- Drag the entire Adobe folder to Macintosh HD > Library > Application
Support so that it is copied there.
Note: If you are asked if you want to replace already
existing files, choose to Replace.
- Close all of the open windows.
- Eject the CD, put it back in the case, and return the CD case to the Knapp
Center or the Science Library.
Getting Started
To Run Acrobat 7 Professional
- Choose Macintosh HD > Applications > Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional
> Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional
- If a Repair Setup window pops up, make sure all options (PDFMaker, Adobe
PDF Printer, Adobe PDFViewer) are checked, then click Continue.
- At the Registration window, click Remind me later, click OK
Remember that Acrobat 7 is a KeyServed application and only a certain
number of computers can use it at one time. Please quit from Acrobat 7 when
it is not in use.
