Printing
- Information
- Printer model (listed on printer)
- Type of computer - Mac or PC
- Printing Troubleshooting
- Quit out of Banner and log-in again. Remember to log into
the Firewall again!
- Restart
the computer.
- Try to
print from another
application like Microsoft Word or FirstClass.If printing is
unsuccessful from another application, continue with the steps in "I
Can't Print" - HD Troubleshooting Procedures.
- Send a
job from Banner to another printer nearby.
- Refer to Banner
Referral if unable to resolve after consulting the staff person on
duty.

- Banner Conference - Users can read announcements
and post questions to the Banner conference on FirstClass. Open
FirstClass and then go to Wellesley Conferences > Banner >Wellesley
Banner.
Login
Problem: User is unable to log-in using their username or password.
Solution:
- Check Helpdesk whiteboards to see if Banner is down. Banner
is usually down Thursday mornings from 8am-11am.
- Make sure that CAPS LOCK is not on. Usernames and passwords
are case-sensitive and they are never capitalized.
- Check if the user is logged into the Firewall.
- Check if user is trying to log-into Banner within 2 minutes
of logging into the Firewall.
- Make sure the user is logging in with their Banner password
and not their Domain password. They are two different passwords.
- Make sure they are using Internet Explorer on a PC and
Safari on a Mac..
- Log out of Banner and log back in.
- Restart the computer.
- Try to log into Banner 7
Problem:
Page Not Found
Solution:
-
Past users of Banner may not have updated their Banner
shortcut
after Banner switched to a secure server. Make sure the URL they are
trying to visit is https://banner.wellesley.edu .
Change the Target of the icon on their desktop to be the correct URL.
Banner self serve for payroll changed the url to: https://bannerss.wellesley.edu:4453
after the upgrade on Oct. 31, 2005.
Problem: "This application has been disabled by an
administrator."
Solution:
- Users sometimes get this error message if they are logged
into Banner
when they shut down the server for the weekly updates on Thursday
morning.
Passwords
Account
Expired:
Problem: User receives this error:
"Account expired on (some date)."
Solution:
Refer to Banner
Account Access referral (Deb Wilson) for an expiration date change.
Password Expired
or About to Expire:
Problem: User receives a message
indicating that their password will expire on (some date).
Solution: The
message is a reminder to have the user change their password before the
given date.
Forgotten or Lost Passwords:
- If a user is unable to log into their Banner
account because they
forgot or lost their Banner password, refer the log to the Banner
Password Problems referral (Deb Wilson) for a password reset.
Banner Passwords:
- Banner/Oracle are the same password
Other Banner related passwords:
- Web for Employees
- UserID and PIN needed. UserID is their Banner ID
number.
- Users should contact Human Resources (Bethann Coppi)
if they need help with this password.
- Access to Grades
- UserID and PIN needed. UserID is their Banner ID number.
- Users should contact the Registrar's office if they need
help with this password.
Fitz
and Focus Password/Questions:

Fitz and Focus have been retired. If a user calls about either server
please have the user call David White for a web password and a new SSO
password with access to Discoverer (aka Disco) for budget viewing.
