Logging In
On Campus
Before troubleshooting:
- Note the version of FirstClass the user is running
- Computer Type (Mac or Windows?)
- The computer's operating system
Troubleshooting:
- Restart the computer
- Open a web browser to check the network connection.
If there is no network connection, click here.
- Check for spyware using Ad-Aware (for
Windows only).
Check FirstClass Settings:
- Check the log in window and ensure that it has "home.fc" in
the address and firstclass.wellesley.edu in the server field.
- Click on the setup button
- Delete the entry in the server field even if it is "firstclass.wellesley.edu" and
retype it in lower case.
- Click Save and try again.
Off Campus
To log on:
- Ensure that they are connected to the Internet via their ISP.
- Launch a web browser and
go to https://firstclass.wellesley.edu/
If they do not have an internet connection, they need to contact
their ISP.
- Login for the web browser version of FirstClass is case sensitive.
If the user's username and password are not recognized, check to
be sure that she is using the right combination of upper/lower-case
letters. If she still can't connect, her password may need to be
reset using the FirstClass client software. This can be done by
the user the next time they log on using the FC client by going
to the Collaborate menu > Change password.
Click
here for an extensive FC documentation troubleshooting.
Logins
Disabled [1035]
You get three tries to type your password correctly. After that you
need to wait 5 minutes before your correct password will work.
AOL Internet Browser
If you use AOL and see a message that you are not able
to connect, try changing the parental controls to something other than
basic no controls. Then change it back again. If possible you could
try to upgrade to a newer version of the AOL software.
