Troubleshooting VirusScan

Installing
Updating
Problem : Asking for password, email etc on Installation
Solution :

A previous version of VirusScan was not uninstalled.
Go through uninstall steps again.

Error : Error 1920 service network associates Virus Shield failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start the services.
Solution :
Their firewall is probably interfering. If a message is popping up asking if it should allow VirusScan access, choose to grant access.

If Windows firewall is interfering go to Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall, click the Exceptions tab. Hit Add Program… and select the VirusScan programs from the list.

Problem: Can’t Find a Valid Repository
Solution :

  • Right-click on the V-Scan Shield and choose Virus Scan Console.
  • Go to Tools > Edit AutoUpdate Repository.
  • Make sure Wellesley College, NAIHttp and NAIFtp are all enabled.
Problem: User does not have the necessary privileges when updating Superdat
Solution :
Log out and log back in with an account that is an Administrator.
