About Clean Access
Troubleshooting
Common Install Questions
Q: What does the Agent do?
A: The Agent does two things:
- It will prompt you to log in when your computer needs to re-authenticate.
- It periodically checks your computer to make sure that you meet the security requirements.
Q: What are the current security requirements?
A: Security requirements differ based on a computer's operating system. As of Fall 2005, Windows computers are required to have the latest updates installed from Microsoft and be configured to download and install those updates automatically. Other computers not running Windows, such as Mac OS X or Linux, are currently only required to authenticate to the network.
Installing the Clean Access Agent
If you need to install or re-install the Clean Access Agent, you will need to open a web browser and get redirected to our Clean Access Authentication website. Login with your domain account, and if you have a Windows computer you will be prompted to download and install the Agent. The installer is not available for download except through the Authentication page.
- When you clicked on the download button, you were likely greeted with a Security Alert. In the Security Alert window, click Yes.

- Click the Run button to begin the Clean Access Agent installation.

- If prompted with an Internet Explorer Security Warning, click Run. If you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer, you may need to save the file to your Desktop and then run it from that location.

- In the Clean Access Agent Installation Wizard screen, click Next.

- Click Next to accept the default folder location.

- Click Install.

- Click Finish to complete the installation.

- After the Clean Access Agent is installed, you will be prompted for your User Name and Password. Use your Wellesley College Domain Username and Password. NOTE: This is NOT the same account you use to log into FirstClass - this is the account that you use to log into computers in the Computing Labs.
PLEASE DO NOT CHECK Remember Me!!!

- If your computer does not meet the security requirements necessary to grant you access to the Wellesley College network, you will be given restricted access. This type of access limits your network connection to sites and services that allow you to correct these security issues. Instructions for each requirement needing to be met will be given so that you can easily update your computer and get onto the network.
## - Otherwise, you'll see a Success screen and be granted full network access. Click OK.

- From then on, each time your computer is turned off or separated from the network for more than 20 minutes, you will be prompted by the Clean Access Agent to Re-Authenticate with your Wellesley College Domain Username and Password. In addition, your computer will be checked weekly to be sure that it continues to meet the security requirements.
What if I need help?
Students may fill out a Student Computing Help Form or bring their laptop to Computing First Aid. Information is available at the ResNet Help website.
Faculty and staff may contact the Faculty/Staff Computing HelpDesk, Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, at x3333 or visit them on the second floor of the Clapp Library above the Knapp Center. Please be aware that personal computer help is very limited as the HelpDesk deals mainly with College-owned computers.
Faculty, Staff, and Students may also post questions in the Computing Questions conference on your FirstClass desktop at any time. Please be aware that the Computing Questions conference is not an offiical Information Services conference so you may not get a complete or quick answer, but there a lot of knowledgeable faculty, staff, and students that do read the conference and offer suggestions.
