Usage

Computing lab equipment is for the use of Wellesley College students, faculty, and staff only; please be prepared to show your Wellesley College identification at any time. Any other person who wishes to use lab equipment must obtain written permission from Heather Woods, Director of Digital Media and Instruction, and must present the letter of permission and photo identification to the lab consultant or any other IS staff member upon request. Such permission is granted only in special cases of academic need, at the Director's discretion.

Priority for the use of computing lab equipment is assigned in the following order:

  1. Academic classes scheduled through the registrar's office; Information Services training sessions. Only class members may use lab equipment while a class is in session.
  2. On designated stations, use of special equipment (scanners, etc.) or software (language packages, CAD applications, etc.) for academic purposes. In the Computer Science Classroom (SCI-E101), computer science coursework. In the Math Lab (SCI-257), Mathematic coursework.
  3. Use for all other academic purposes.
  4. Use of special equipment or software for non-academic purposes.
  5. Nonacademic use by Wellesley students, faculty, and staff.
  6. Academic use by non-Wellesley users, with permission.

If you leave the computer at which you are working unattended for more than 15 minutes, you forfeit your claim to that station; your belongings will be removed to the consultant desk and the station will be assigned to another user.

If you do not have a CD, you may temporarily store files on the 24-hour drop (please do not save confidential files to the 24-hour drop). You may not save files or install any software on the hard drive of a computing lab machine. Personal files and nonstandard software may be deleted without warning at any time.
