About domain membership
Your Windows 2000
computer must be designated a "member" of the Wellesley domain in order for you
to log in to the domain at startup and change your domain password. All
College-owned computers running Windows 2000 are domain members.
Logging in
The Enter Network Password window will
appear each time you start up your computer or log out of the domain. To log in:
- In the User name field, type your domain user name. In the
Password field, type your domain password. In the Log on to
field, make sure WELLESLEY is selected. Make sure Log on using
dial-up connection is not checked.
Note: Do not press ENTER after
typing your user name. Press TAB or use the mouse to move the cursor to the
Password field.
- Click OK.
Logging out
To prevent others from gaining access to
private server directories to which your domain account may have access, you
should log out of the domain whenever you leave your computer unattended. To log
out:
- From the Start menu, choose Log Off.
- When you are asked if you are sure you want to log off, click Yes.
If the Log Off option does not appear in the Start menu:
- Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE.
- Click Log Off.
- When you are asked if you are sure you want to log off, click Yes.
Shutting down your computer will automatically log you out.
Connecting to file servers
To connect to a Windows
file server such as NTM:
- From the Start menu, choose Run.
- In the Open: field, type \\ followed
by the name of the server to which you want to connect (e.g., \\ntm). Then
click OK.
Changing your domain password
To maintain the security
of your domain account, you should change your domain password whenever you have
reason to suspect that another person has learned your password.
Your domain password should be between 6 and 8 characters in length.
It is not possible to set a domain password less than 6 characters long. For
security, your password should consist of a combination of letters and numbers.
To change your password on campus only:
You will first need to enroll with the Password Station.

1. Enter your Wellesley Username and click on “Continue” button.
2. You will be prompted to enter your current Domain password, click on “Continue” button.
3. Select your challenge question from each drop down list, each question and answer must be unique. They are not case sensitive. Make sure you select answers that are LONG-TERM Memory based and that you will not forget in 6 months, such as the street you grew up on. When all questions are answered click on “Continue” button
4. Congratulations you are enrolled and you can now change your password and manage your domain account.
