Ares

To Uninstall Ares:

Ares automatically installs NavHelper, which displays advertisements based on keywords entered into search engines. Uninstalling Ares does not automatically remove NavHelper, so they should be removed at the same time you remove Ares. To uninstall NavHelper and Ares:

  1. Make sure Ares is not running by checking your system tray. In the bottom right corner of your screen near the clock, look for the Ares icon. If you only see a few icons, there is a blue circle icon between the light blue system tray and dark blue taskbar that you can click on to show all your system tray icons.
  2. Right-click on the Ares system tray icon and select Exit.
  3. Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
Note: If you are running Windows XP and the My Computer icon does not appear on your desktop, choose My Computer from the Start menu.
  4. Double-click on Control Panel.
  5. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
  6. Select NavHelper. Click Add/Remove.
  7. Follow the instructions on your screen to remove NavHelper.
  8. Close all open windows.
  9. Go to Start > All Programs > Ares and click Uninstall Ares.
  10. Wait for an Uninstall Successful window to appear. Click OK.
  11. Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
Note: If you are running Windows XP and the My Computer icon does not appear on your desktop, choose My Computer from the Start menu.
  12. Double-click on the icon for your hard drive.
  13. Open the Program Files folder.
  14. Right-click on the SoulSeek folder. From the menu which appears, choose Delete.
  15. When you are asked if you are sure you want to remove the folder, click Yes.

After uninstalling Ares, you should run a spyware removal tool such as Ad-aware to remove any adware and spyware that may have been installed by Ares.
