File Sharing in Windows
To learn how to set up, check, or remove file sharing and learn how to access a shared folder on a faculty, staff, or student computer running Windows 98, Windows Millennium (Me), Windows 2000, or Windows XP Professional Edition, click on the appropriate link below. The shared folder can be made accessible to anyone using a Windows computer on the Wellesley campus network.
NOTE: Since it is not possible to password-protect a shared folder in Windows XP Home Edition, if you must use Windows XP Home Edition you should avoid sharing files over the campus network and disable file sharing on your computer (it is enabled by default). If file sharing in Windows XP Home is not disabled, any user or virus will be able to access your computer without your knowledge. Follow these instructions to Disable unprotected file sharing on Windows XP Home Edition.
