Workshops

Since 1996, a team from Information Services, with help from Wellesley faculty, has held intensive Instructional Technology workshops in January to help faculty integrate the use of technology into the educational programs of the College.

Topics in previous workshops have included:

  • using conferencing software (FirstClass) to post documents, spreadsheets, images; or drop folders for student work
  • scanning (images, slides, text)
  • digitizing audio and video
  • basic image editing (trimming, resizing, file format conversion)
  • advanced image editing
  • using a digital camera
  • digital animation (e.g., Flash, Fireworks)
  • basic web page creation using Dreamweaver
  • web site design and project management
  • copyright issues as they apply to multimedia
  • presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint) and techniques
  • advanced multimedia authoring (e.g., Director)
  • data analysis with statistical software
  • copyright issues

Workshops are held over two consecutive mornings from 9:30am to 1:00pm in January. Sessions are not hands-on training, but rather lively and informative discussions and demonstrations on key topics. At the end of each morning, IS staff and faculty discuss technology and pedagogy over a scrumptious, nutritious lunch.

Please contact Kenny Freundlich with any suggestions you might have regarding new topics or formats.
