You can check which browser is your default browser by following the directions for Checking Your Default Web Browser below.

If you do not know which version of Netscape is on your computer and want it to be your default browser:

Checking Your Default Web Browser

Your default browser automatically launches whenever you click on a link in an email message, or open an HTML file. Use the following method to check your default web browser.

1. Highlight the following link: http://www.wellesley.edu/Computing/computing.html, then go to Edit > Copy to copy the link.

2. Open FirstClass or any email program to create a new message, and then go to Edit > Paste to paste the link into the text section of the message. Address the email to yourself and send it. When you receive this email, open the message and click on the link.

3. Your default web browser will launch and will go to the Computing at Wellesley web page. If you cannot tell which browser has been launched, go to the Help menu at the top of the browser program. If the last option on the Help menu is About Internet Explorer, or Internet Explorer Help, then Internet Explorer is your default browser. If the last option on the Help menu is About Communicator or About Netscape, then Netscape is your default browser.
