Kazaa

Kazaa automatically installs a number of applications which monitor your Internet usage and display advertisements. Uninstalling Kazaa does not automatically remove these applications, so they should be removed at the same time you remove KaZaa. To uninstall these programs and Kazaa:

  1. Make sure Kazaa is not running by checking your system tray. In the bottom right corner of your screen near the clock, look for the KaZaa icon. If you only see a few icons, there is a blue circle icon between the light blue system tray and dark blue taskbar that you can click on to show all your system tray icons.
  2. Right-click on the KaZaa system tray icon and select Exit.
  3. Go to Start > Control Panel.
  4. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
  5. Remove each of the following items by selecting its name, then clicking Add/Remove and following the instructions on your screen:
    • b3d Projector
    • DelFin Media Viewer
    • FirstLook Portal
Note: When you are asked whether you are sure you want to stop receiving news and other information, click Yes.
    • MediaLoads
    • MediaLoads Installer
    • New.net
    • SaveNow
  6. Close all open windows.
  7. Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
Note: If you are running Windows XP and the My Computer icon does not appear on your desktop, choose My Computer from the Start menu.
  8. Double-click on the icon for your hard drive.
  9. Open the Program Files folder.
  10. Delete the following folders:
    • SaveNow
    • DelFin
    • FirstLook
    • NewDotNet
  11. Go back to the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.
  12. Select Kazaa Media Desktop. Click Add/Remove.
  13. Follow the instructions on your screen to remove Kazaa.
  14. Close all open windows.
  15. Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
Note: If you are running Windows XP and the My Computer icon does not appear on your desktop, choose My Computer from the Start menu.
  16. Double-click on the icon for your hard drive.
  17. Open the Program Files folder.
  18. Right-click on the Kazaa folder. From the menu which appears, choose Delete.
  19. When you are asked if you are sure you want to remove the folder, click Yes.

After uninstalling LimeWire, you should run a spyware removal tool such as Ad-aware to remove any adware and spyware that may have been installed by KaZaa.
