Notebook Lockdown Device

Securing Your Notebook Around Campus

If you have a notebook (or laptop) computer, you may find yourself using that computer not just in your room or office but in other buildings around campus. Beginning May of 2005, Wellesley College is installing computer lockdown brackets in areas within Clapp Library where students typically work with their notebooks. These lock down devices don't guarantee that your computer will be safe from a determined thief, but they certainly make theft much less likely.

While theft at Wellesley College continues to be rare, it has happened, and how would you feel if the one computer that got stolen was yours? Please take a few minutes to browse through our lockdown slideshow (Opens in a New Window) to see how you can use these devices to help keep your notebook computer secure! Keep an eye out for creative uses for these lockdown cables to secure computers even where one of these brackets is not available.
