Configuring CD-ROM to Play Audio CDs

Some of the new Windows 2000 computers' CD-ROMs aren't configured to play music CDs. To set up a computer to play audio CDs:

  1. Click on the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen
  2. Go to Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Multimedia
  3. Select the Hardware tab in the upper part of the window
  4. Highlight the CD-ROM in the list of devices

  5. Click the Properties button
  6. In the new Properties window, select the Properties tab
  7. Select "Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" at the bottom of the window
  8. Press OK
  9. Press OK in the Sounds and Multimedia window
  10. The computer should now be able to play music CDs
