Windows Update
Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that helps you keep your computer
up-to-date with the latest important security patches and updates. If your computer
does not have the latest security patches and software updates, you are at risk
from viruses and malicious hackers taking over your computer to use it for illegal
purposes without your knowledge.
To access Windows Updates quickly, launch Internet Explorer and go to
http://windowsupdate.micorosoft.com/.

If you have not set passwords on all of the user accounts on your
Windows Vista, XP, or 2000 computer, follow the documentation for
Windows Passwords
before running Windows Updates.

To check which version of Windows that you have:

In the Start Menu, right-click on My Computer. In Vista, right-click on Computer.

Select Properties.

Under the General tab, the section at the top named System: should list
the version of Windows on your computer. Make note of the Service Pack number as well.

Click Cancel to close the window.

All critical Windows Updates are required for most computers on campus to pass
Cisco Clean Access.
