| Campus visitors are granted use of the Wellesley College Wireless network for a 24-hour period, which can be renewed. Access, however, is limited to non-Wellesley websites due to licensing and security issues. If you need to access Wellesley College online resources, such as the online catalog or www.wellesley.edu, please use one of the library computers designated for public access. Configuring Your Computer's Wireless Internet Connection Visitors can access the Wellesley College wireless network by configuring their computers to detect the SSID "nostrings" or "Wellesley." Please see our detailed instructions for configuring the network settings on your PC or Mac. Then read the visitor access directions below. Please Note: Wellesley College is not able to provide troubleshooting for hardware or setup issues on wireless cards for visitors. Accessing the Wireless Network & Renewing Visitor Access after 24 Hours Wellesley College uses Cisco Clean Access to authorize computers to use the network. As a visitor on the network, launch a web browser (after you have configured your network settings and have connectivity) and go to any off-campus website, such as www.yahoo.com or www.google.com. Your browser will then be redirected to the Clean Access authentication page. In the left section of the page, scroll down and click the Visitor button. Access should be granted immediately for 24 hours, without additional requirements or restarting. Visitor access can be renewed for another 24 hours by repeating the above steps. Policies All persons using Wellesley College electronic resources are subject to Wellesley College policies including but not limited to the Responsible Use of Information Technology Resources Policy and the Wellesley College Copyright Policy. Failure to comply with these policies will result in denial of access to the Wellesley College network and electronic resources. These policies may be viewed at http://www.wellesley.edu/InformationServices/ispolicies.html. |
