Advanced Practicum Training Program:

This is an academic year training program (September-May), which requires a minimum of 24 hours/week over 3-4 days with Wednesday & Thursday being a required day. The practicum hours maybe fulfilled only during the hours the Counseling Service is open, which is Monday through Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. The central work is to provide counseling services to Wellesley College students. Practice experience includes individual counseling, group work, workshops and preventive programming, and consultation with members of the college community.

Components of the Training Program include individual clinical supervision, group supervision, several training seminars, clinical team meeting, a trainee support group, and additional opportunities for participation in larger activities of the Stone Center and the Wellesley Centers for Women.

Application Process:

Each year, five positions are available as follows:

Three advanced (2nd year) clinical internships for students enrolled in MSW programs.
Two advanced clinical practicum positions for doctoral level Psychology students.

  • Three letters of recommendation highlighting clinical experience.
  • A recent, official transcript
For Psychology applicants:

Psychology applications are accepted from November through January 6th, although applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

After a review of the written materials, interviews will be scheduled in January & February. Final decisions will be made by the end of February.

For Social Work applicants:

Social Work applications are submitted through the applicant's graduate school Field Education office from January through February 10th. After a review of the written materials, interviews will be scheduled in February. Final decisions will be made at the end of February.
