First-grade teacher Maura McNiff talks about the impact of Courage to Teach

M
any of us who are engaged in education, leadership, community service, healthcare and social change experienced a sense of calling that first brought us to our work, yet we know that staying connected to that call can be challenging. Sustaining our commitment to challenging work requires that we take time to renew our own spirits and reconnect with the wellsprings of our service to others.

Over the past decade, Parker J. Palmer and colleagues across the country have created a unique approach to renewing personal identity, professional integrity and vocational vitality. First developed with public school teachers as Courage to Teach®, this approach is now being offered to a growing number of interested persons in other professions.

Established at Wellesley College in 2005, Courage & Renewal Northeast is an affiliate of the national Center for Courage & Renewal and collaborates with other institutions, organizations, educational leaders, and Courage & Renewal facilitators to foster the growth of this work in the Boston area and throughout the northeast.

Courage & Renewal Northeast facilitates and promotes Courage to Teach and Courage & Renewal retreats and related events in the region that serve K-12 educators, college and university faculty, and leaders in healthcare and across serving professions

This web site is intended to:
~ promote related events & retreat offerings
~ provide resources to anyone interested in this work
~
connect Courage & Renewal collaborators in the northeast
