Mission
Davis Museum Student Advisory Committee was founded
a few years ago to serve as a liaison between the student body
and
the
Davis
Museum
and
Cultural
Center.
As an organization in which both students and the director
of the
Davis Museum and Cultural Center take an active role, DMSAC
fulfills its role as a liaison organization. At the same time,
the group
aims to engage the student body with the museum, one of Wellesley's
greatest resources, and to increase student participation at
the museum.
Activities
In accordance with its mission, DMSAC has organized a major evening
event each semester. These events, known as Davis After Dark, have
proven to be very popular and successful with the student body,
but DMSAC is continuing to improve on and refine the Davis After
Dark formula each semester. In addition to Davis After Dark, DMSAC
has also worked to put on student openings, helped to publicize
film series' at Collins Cinema, worked with Optik to create an
exhibition of student photography in the Collins Cafe, and is working
on finding additional ways to engage the Wellesley student body
with the arts, such as organizing trips to local museums.
Interim period
DMSAC will be working full force while the museum is closed! There
will be events held all year long in the lobby space, Collins and
elsewhere on campus. Although
we won’t be having museum openings, the focus of DMSAC programming this
year will be redirected to align with both student organizations and academic
departments on campus.
Please check back at the beginning of the year for dates for our events.
