Museum Mentors Program

The Davis Museum Mentors Program provides a structure for Wellesley student leadership at the Davis Museum. Museum Mentors train in the Davis permanent collection, exhibitions, and museum education techniques, and lead gallery tours and classroom visits for K-12 groups in the region (including the districts of Framingham, Boston and Wellesley). Mentors support the Davis Museum in its goals to promote the usage of museums in lifelong learning and K-12 education.

The Museum Mentor Program offers Wellesley students a primary way to learn at the Davis outside of the classroom, and to engage with the museum as a site of civic participation.  Museum Mentors:

  • Gain hands-on experience with school audiences
  • Interact with the museum’s collection and exhibitions
  • Learn about the educational role of museums in society
  • Gain professional development in communication, leadership and group-management skills
  • Enjoy leisure and learning in the museum environment

To apply to the Museum Mentors Program, contact Alexa Miller, abriggs@wellesley.edu. Successful completion of Education 221: Museum Education and the Art Encounter highly recommended.
