Surrounding Interiors: Views Inside the Car
February 21 – June 9, 2002
Alex Harris, May 28, 1998

This exhibition explored artists' responses to the ambiguous nature of the car interior: a place both personal and anonymous, private and public, hermetic and permeable, where psychological, social and political dramas are played out.

Surrounding Interiors featured works by Andrew Bush, Peter Cain, Sophie Calle and Greg Shepherd, Dan Devine, Nan Goldin, Alex Harris, Edward and Nancy Reddin Kienholz, Patrick Killoran, Blake Rayne, James Rosenquist, Carl Scholz, Cate Snook, Theophilus Nii Anum Sowah, Lorna Simpson, Daniel Storto and Andrea Zittel.
