A provocative selection of works on paper from the Davis
Museum's permanent collection, this exhibition explored the
nature and meaning of spirituality and spiritual life—in
and through different cultures and times, geographical and
mental landscapes. The exhibition was developed by former
Registrar/Assistant Curator for the Permanent Collection Lisa
McDermott, former Assistant Curator of Education Melissa Organek
Dupree, Senior Lecturer in the Writing Program Lorraine Garnett
Ward, and Professor of Religion T. James Kodera in conjunction
with the First-Year Experience Cluster, Spiritual Journey
as Education. This 2000 Cluster "posed and engaged
the question of how intellectual, moral, and spiritual education
may inspire, complement, and enhance each other." This
exhibition was supported by funds provided by the Andrew W.
Mellon Foundation.
