ARTICLE III. Research or Individual Study

Any department may present as part of its offering individual study, or research, laboratory or field work, to be directed by a member of the faculty with the title Research or Individual Study. Such work will be evaluated by examination, a final paper, or a series of reports. It is to be open to properly qualified students and may be undertaken only with the permission of the chair of the department in which the work is given. It may not ordinarily be used to satisfy the requirements listed in Article I, Sections 2 and 3.
