Student Organizations and the Office of Student Activities

Committed to students and student learning, the Office of Student Activities strives to help students develop mutual respect, a shared commitment to the community, creativity, and ethical leadership by supporting opportunities for involvement and leadership development.

In conjunction with College Government, the Office of Student Activities at Wellesley College helps connect students with their interests through support of over 160 student organizations. The focus of student organizations at Wellesley range broadly from the arts, club sports, literary/journalism, and cultural to professional, volunteer, and spiritual/religious. Additionally, the Office of Student Activities works collaboratively with student organizations and departments across campus to provide events for the campus community including trips to see professional sports and theater in Boston, concerts on campus, traditions such as Lake Day and Hoop Rolling, as well as leadership development opportunities such as the Student Leadership Summit held each fall.

Cultural Advising Network

Wellesley College is a multicultural and international campus. Representing our richly different cultural identities and heritages, the Cultural Advising Network strives to examine the campus climate and to model the community standards of respecting, valuing, and seeking to understand one another's experiences and identities. Each member of the Cultural Advising Network works to promote multiculturalism campus-wide and serves as an advisor to a cultural group. Among the groups represented on the Cultural Advising Network are students of African descent; Continuing Education students; Latina students; lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students; Muslim students; students with disabilities; Jewish students; students of Asian descent; and international students. Network members are listed above. Associate Dean of Students Michelle Lepore coordinates the work of the Cultural Advising Network.

Religious and Spiritual Life

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life strives to support the spiritual, educational and worship needs of all Wellesley students. Support and celebration for people of Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian (Orthodox, Protestant, Roman Catholic), Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Native African, Native American, Pagan, Sikh, Unitarian Universalist, Zoroastrian and other religious traditions is offered through the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. Support for the spiritual journeys of students, faculty and staff both within and outside of institutional religious contexts is offered through a series of programs on moral, ethical and spiritual issues. All college community members are invited to discover the common spiritual threads which bind us together as one people through a series of multi-faith educational programs and community worship opportunities.

A featured program of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life is the Beyond Tolerance program which brings together community members in places of encounter where they learn more about inter-religious dialogue and conflict resolution.

Victor Kazanjian is the Dean of Religious and Spiritual Life and is responsible for coordinating religious and spiritual life at Wellesley College. In this work the Dean does not represent any one religious tradition.
