Job Responsibilities
1. Technical Liason to the Registrar's Office, the Admission Office, Housing and Student Life. In this capacity, with others, I resolve problems, including Oracle form problems, Pro*C program problems and PL/SQL program performance problems. With others, I have also been responsible for installing Oracle client desktop software, including Oracle Discoverer and Oracle Developer Suite. I interact with people ranging from staff at Sungard Higher Education(Wellesley College's ERP vendor), Wellesley College's Technology Infrastructure group, and Wellesley College's Help Desk so as to communicate and help coordinate system upgrades and testing. In addition, I work on special projects as required by the people I support.2. Assistant Datamart Administrator. Responsible in the absence of the Datamart Administrator for migrating code to our production environment, for ensuring the nightly data mart refresh completes properly and for interacting with Technology Infrastructure staff vis-a-vis backups, tuning, sizing, operating systems upgrades, and hardware changes as they affect the datamart.
3. Participate in Wellesley College's Datamart project, specifically in its student, general, and institutional research components. I have written and continue to write, test and implement PL/SQL code responsible for the staging table and reporting table components of major parts of Wellesley College's data mart (really an Operational Data Store). In addition, as necessary, I assist the Datamart Admininistrator in facilitating the evolution of the datamart architecture.
4. Enterprise application integration work. A fairly large amount of my time is spent on connecting our BANNER ERP and our datamart ODS to other systems. An example is the automatic upload of BANNER/data mart data into our Health Services Medicat application. A second example is the investigation of imaging systems (hardware and software) that may streamline workflow at the college and permit data more readily to be entered and accessed in BANNER.
