Japanese 231 Course Description

This course is designed for students who have completed two years of Japanese studies (J201-202). The course will provide practice of reading authentic texts in different topics and genres. Films and listening materials will also be used.

Throughout the course, the development of a more fluent speech and stronger literacy will be emphasized by studying complex and idiomatic expressions. Acquisition of an additional few hundred kanzi characters will be part of the course. Students will be required to write weekly Japanese journal entries and complete semester projects. Students will be able to access the course website to practice. The class will be conducted entirely in Japanese. The class will meet three days a week.
