Personal Finance

  Low-Income Children & Families

At the moment, I am splitting my research time between financial education and the analysis of programs designed to improve the well-being of low-income families with children. Saundra Bernatovich Gulley (class of 86) and I are writing a book on personal finance that will incorporate the latest developments in financial economics and financial markets. We are also trying to develop a cost-effective ways of providing financial education. When analyzing programs for low-income families, I am particularly interested in the devolution of power for such programs to state and local government (called the "New Federalism") and in policies that impact low-income children.
