the minor

The minor is designed to provide all students with a set of core knowledge and exposure to a breadth of approaches and ideas important to environmental studies.

There are three components to the 5-course minor:

  1. Core course:
    1. ES 101: Introduction to ES: Methods and Analysis OR
    2. ES 102: Introduction to ES: Issues and Concepts OR
    3. ES 100 (if taken previously)
  2. One course in each of these categories provides breadth:
    1. Science: ES 201 or BISC 201
    2. Social Science: ES 214 or ECON 228 (which requires ECON 101 as a prerequisite)
    3. Humanities: ES 203 or ES 299 or PHIL 233
  3. One elective from ES courses or the list of Related Courses:
    • ES 300 may be chosen as the elective
