campus organizationsES Majors Council: The Environmental Studies program has a majors council that helps plan events and gives feedback on program plans and policies. WEED: Wellesley Energy and Environmental Defense (WEED) is a multi-constituency organization composed of students, faculty, staff, and union members interested in reducing the college’s environmental footprint. WEED oversees the eco-reps in the residence halls, conducts recycling at major environmental conferences, and plans events related to the environment. Focus the Nation: Focus the Nation is a student organization dedicated to raising awareness of the problem of global climate change and in particular convincing the United States to act to address the issue. The campus chapter sponsors events on campus relating to climate change and conducts educational seminars for local area schools. Outing Club: The Outing Club offers students opportunities to hike, canoe, kayak, ski, and enjoy the outdoors. Recent trips include hiking at Blue Hills Reserve, Walden Pond, climbing at a nearby wall, and kayaking on the Charles River. The college Outing Club partners with MIT for some activities too. GNats: Garden Naturalists, a group of students, faculty, staff, and other naturalists who meet in the Botanic Gardens to get to know the plants, animals, and fungi of the campus.
