10AM-4PM -- Explore the Greenhouses (Greenhouse
Visitor Center) Experience the flora of faraway places
in Wellesley's fabulous Margaret C. Ferguson Greenhouses. Start at
the open house with refreshments at the Greenhouse Visitor Center,
and then explore on your own or take a docent-led tour at 10:30 AM,
11:30AM, 2PM, or 3PM.
12PM -- Tree Tour (meets at the Greenhouse Visitor
Center) Wellesley's Botanic Gardens include
a great diversity of trees from around the world. Join student naturalists
on a walk to visit their favorite trees and hear the lore of these
magnificent beings.
12:30PM-1:20PM -- Meditation at Meditation Space
(Interim Chapel Schneider Center 3rd Floor) In mindfulness we rediscover our inner
resources. The inner path has three parts: compassion, concentration
and wisdom. All are welcome.
1PM-4PM -- Student Organizations Fair (Wang
Campus Center South Walkway and Patio)
Learn about some of the more than 150
student organizations on campus.
1:30PM-2:30PM -- Environmental Campus Tour (meets
at front doors of Science Center) Join
Environmental Studies and Geosciences for a tour of campus, "Reading
the Landscape: Environmental History and Geology of Wellesley's Campus."
2PM-3PM -- Leadership Panel at Collins Cinema
Planned jointly by the Alumnae Association,
Friends of Wellesley College Athletics, and Student Activities, student
and alumnae panelists will discuss how their experiences as student
leaders while at Wellesley made an impact on the development of their
leadership skills. Panelists will also share how they have used these
skills during their daily lives on-campus and beyond.
2PM-3PM -- Docent Tours at Davis Museum
All students and visitors are invited
to come to the Davis
Museum and enjoy the exhibitions and galleries. Museum docents
will be offering free 20-minute tours.
2PM-3:30PM -- Career Cafe at CWS Resource Library
(Green Hall Rm. 442) Serving up hot career exploration and internship/job search resources! Come hear about the services and resources on our menu, and join our knowledgeable staff for coffee and pastries as we explore how we can work together to help your Wellesley student find her path.
2PM-4PM -- Guild of Carilonneurs Open Tower at
Galenstone Tower Green Hall
Join the Guild of Carillonneurs in Galenstone Tower
for tours, refreshments, carillon music, and the best view on campus.

Collins Cinema Awardees of the Pinanski Teaching Prize
will share their current research and discuss their teaching style.
The Pinanski Teaching Prize honors the achievements of three faculty
members each year. Recipients are nominated by the College community
and chosen by the President and Pinanski Prize committee.
3PM-4PM -- Theatre Studies
Reception at Theatre Department (Alumnae Hall)
4PM-6PM -- The Foreigner Open Rehearsal (Ruth Nagel Jones Theatre)
Please join the director of Theatre
and Theatre Studies for an informal chat about life in the
thriving theatre community at Wellesley. You will have an opportunity
to ask questions and view clips from previous productions.
Refreshments will be served. Following the reception all interested
folks can move on to attend a portion of a rehearsal for the October
production
of Larry Shue's The
Foreigner, a student production by Upstage. You will meet the performers and get a student
perspective on theatre

on campus.
4PM-5PM -- Distinguished Faculty Lecture, "New
Neurons in Old Brains: It's the Difference Between Night and Day!"
at Jewett Auditorium
Distinguished faculty lecturer, Professor Barbara
Beltz, will focus on the discovery that new nerve cells are born
in the adult human brain. Ongoing research, in which Wellesley students
play an essential role, is focused on understanding how the production
of new neurons is regulated and how adult-born neurons may be involved
in clinical depression and its treatment.
5:15PM -- Shabbat Dinner
6:30PM -- Egalitarian Shabbat Service
Hillel welcomes

Join Film Society as we show two award-winning
movies based on the lives of two of the worlds most famous queens,
Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II. Cate Blanchett stars in
the title role in the Oscar-nominated Elizabeth (Best Actress & Best
Picture Nomination) which chronicles the early years of Elizabeth I's tumultuous
45-year reign as Queen of England. Oscar-nominated The Queen (Best Actress Winner,
Best Picture Nomination) follows up some 500 years later, showing us behind the
scenes of the lives of the current British Queen, Elizabeth II (Helen Mirren
in an Oscar Winning role), the royal family, and the prime minister in the aftermath
of Princess Diana's death.
They will be played at Collins Cinema. Free with Wellesley or MIT ID. All other
guests need to pay $3.

The Music Department presents renowned jazz group, the Geri Allen
Trio (Geri Allen, piano, Kenny Davis, bass, and Kassa Overall, drums,
and tap dancer, TBA. Geri Allen is regarded as one of the most talented
women in the jazz scene today, and has collaborated with such luminaries
as Charlie Haden, Bill Cosby, Kenny Clarke, Robert Altman and Ron
Carter among others. Free and open to the public.

9:45AM-11AM -- Wellesley October Weekend Flower Sunday Brunch at Wang Campus Center Rm. 416
Each fall as the new academic year begins, members of Wellesley College community gather for a ritual called Flower Sunday, a tradition as old as the college itself. Flower Sunday (which took place on Sept 16th.) is an annual multi-faith and spiritual celebration in which students gather on the theme of love and learning and the importance of sisterhood to education at Wellesley. This year we will be hosting a second special Flower Sunday Celebration for all Wellesley sisters, students and alumnae, (and their families and friends) as a part of Wellesley October Weekend. Come and join us for this festival of flowers and celebration of sisterhood with music, song, dance and words of wisdom from the religious, spiritual and humanistic traditions of the world.
