For Parents

As a parent, you undoubtedly are facing your own time of transition as you send your child off to college for the first time.  Please know that we consider you to be members of the extended Wellesley family.  Our family is not intended to replicate or replace your own, but rather to embrace your student as she moves into and through her college years.

Your Wellesley College first-year student will be encouraged and expected to take ownership of her educational experience, to manage her responsibilities, to communicate with you and with us, and to work through difficulties with our support.  You will find that the Parents’ Guide (.pdf) offers parents useful information about Wellesley College, but does not go into the same level of detail that similar materials offer to students.  It is our hope that you and the Wellesley student in your family will talk together about the college experience, and keep in touch with us as the year progresses.
