Wellesley-in-Vienna Internships
Our program offers a wide range of possibilities for internships. In
previous years Wellesley students worked at various institutions such
as a famous
architectural
firm, an International relations organization, a Human Resources management
company, various music and cultural organizations and as a correspondent
for Newsweek. Internships in the sciences are also available.
The resident
director helps to place the students according to their interests and
personal expectations. Knafel Stipends are available for
internships on a competitive basis. Watch for the March 1st deadline.

Requirement: Applicants must have been admitted to our Wellesley-in-Vienna
exchange program.

Sigmund Freud Museum www.freud-museum.at
In the former living quarters and office of Sigmund Freud in Vienna's
ninth district, the Sigmund Freud Museum presents an exhibition documenting
the life and work of the founder of psychoanalysis. Today Berggasse 19
stands programmatically for the institutions and activities that deepen
knowledge about psychoanalysis, its historical dimensions and its links
to art.
The intern will provide research assistance for the curator, the librarian
and/or the PR department.
Requirements: interest in psychoanalysis and in cultural history.
Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen
(Institute for Human Sciences) www.iwm.at
The focus of this Institute of Advanced Studies is on Political Philosophy,
Gender Studies, and Political and Social Transformation in Central and
Eastern Europe.
The intern will assist in preparing the English version of the Institute's
newsletter and other publications, help with the organization of events,
and provide support to visiting researchers from Eastern Europe.
Requirements: interest in Central Europe, good writing skills in English.
Jewish Museum, City of Vienna www.jmw.at/
The intern will assist in the preparation of individual exhibits and
in public relations. She will work with English-speaking visitors of
the
museum and help with the Museum's correspondence.
Requirements: excellent German, interest in Jewish culture and art exhibits.
Orpheus Trust www.orpheustrust.at/
The Orpheus Trust provides information on exiled musicians and organizes
concerts by émigré composers.
The intern will assist in the preparation of concerts and publications,
as well as in research on Austrian musicians in exile.
Requirements: interest in 20th century music, good writing skills in
English.
C & G Consulting www.candgconsulting.com
An international executive search and outplacement consulting firm in
the heart of Vienna.
The intern will do research, database entry, and learn the ins-and-outs
of "head hunting".
Requirements: excellent German, telephone skills (in German), writing
skills, well organized, interest in journalism and human resources.
ZOOM Children's Museum www.kindermuseum.at
This museum is a place of playful inquiry, learning and discovery for
children located in the beautiful Museumsquartier close to the dorm.
The
exhibits give children the chance to ZOOM in on new situations and use
all their senses to grasp the world around them.
The intern will assist curators in preparing exhibitions
Requirements: interest in displays and in pedagogy, good social and team
skills
Centre for Intercultural Studies, Danube University Krems

This newly founded Centre organizes five-day workshops on intercultural
and gender topics in Austria (in the Wachau and in Tyrol) and in Eastern
Europe.
The intern will work with the resident director or her colleagues on
various aspects of cultural and global studies.
Requirements: excellent writing skills in English, personal experience
with intercultural issues, course work in international affairs and/or
cultural studies.
