Employee/Supervisor Self-Assessment Tool

 

1.  Office Management: Reflect on your role in the office and think about the following questions:

 

a.          What works well and what can be done differently?

b.          What seems redundant or without any real substantive value?

c.          Are there others in the office where it might make sense to transfer some of what you do?

 

 

2.  Goal Achievement: How did the year shape up around the goals that were set?  Do you feel that you achieved the goals that were set?  What obstacles got in your way?

 

 

3. Competency Assessment:

 

 

Review the core competencies and highlight the specific competency areas critical to the successful performance of your role.

 

           Service to Constituents

 

           How have you been able to identify, understand, build relationships with,

           and respond to the needs and expectations of internal and external constituents in an 

           appropriate manner.

 

           Expertise                                  

 

           How do you draw upon and utilize specific knowledge, skills and experiences that are

           needed to perform your specific role.

 

          Accountability/Responsibility 

 

           To what degree are you responsible for your own work, the work of others and

           delivering services to the community and what is the impact of your position’s end

           results.

 

           Collaboration   

 

           How have you been able to produce successful outcomes by working cooperatively with

           others.

 

           Communication

 

In what ways have you effectively interacted and exchanged information with other

members of the community and external constituencies.

     

Innovation and Problem Solving, Critical Thinking

 

Reflect on your ability to identify, define, critically analyze and resolve work problems

through research and testing alternative ideas and approaches.

 

Development of Self and Others

 

How have you provided a strong sense of purpose and mission for the professional

development of yourself and others.

 

 

4.  Achievements  Overall: Where do you think you have excelled over the past year?  What are you most proud of?   What would you say is the greatest improvement or progress you have made since last years’ review?  What is your overall assessment of your work this year?

 

 

 

 

5.  Obstacles: What are the ongoing things that get in the way of your work?  What can you do to improve these problem areas?  How can you be more effective?

 

 

 

 

6.  Working relationship:  Are you satisfied with your working relationship with your supervisor?  Are there things that could be done to strengthen it in the service of achieving mutual goals?

 

 

 

7. Development:  

 

a.  Did you engage in activities this year that allowed you to develop professionally?   How have these programs helped you in your work?  What other areas of growth would you like to explore?

 

 

b.  Are you finding creative challenges in your work?  Where?  If this is not present for you now, think about how we could structure your responsibilities to allow for it.

 

c.  Where do you want to be next year?  In five years?  What do you need to get there?

If you are in a supervisory role, consider the above mentioned questions as they relate to you as an employee and as a supervisor.  In addition, think about the following:
