Orientation
for New Employees
Before
You Arrive:
- Sign
and return the employee data record and one copy of the signed
offer letter
- On
or before your first day of employment, complete I9 and W4 forms
-
- Bring with you the necessary documentation: a state driver's license
or ID with photo and Social Security card or birth certificate;
in lieu of these, a valid passport, or an alien registration
card is acceptable.
On
Your First Day:
- Stop
by Human Resources and complete tax forms if you haven't already
done so
- Pick
up welcome packet from Human Resources
- Contact
Campus Police (x3260) regarding your one card identification card
and parking assignment and decal.
- Complete
direct deposit form and send to the Payroll Office
During
Your First Month:
- Schedule
and attend a Benefits Orientation within your first 30 days of
employment (2231)
- Sign
up for benefits (see below)
- Schedule
and attend New Employee Orientation/Valuing Work overview with
Human Resources
- Opportunity
to connect with other new employees
- Learn
about the overall college structure
- Explore
opportunities/resources available to college employees
- Overview
of College compensation program called Valuing Work
- Schedule
a Technology Orientation (x3333)
- We
recommend that every new employee contact the Admissions Office
(x2270) to participate in a college tour
During
the First Six Months:
- Review
role documentation and job responsibilities
- Learn
about performance expectations from supervisor
- Gain
understanding of divisional, departmental and individual goals
- Understand
short-term goals for the first months of employment
- Build
relationships with office colleagues and other departments
- Review
training and development resources with supervisor

Please
contact the Benefits Team to schedule an official benefits orientation
as soon as possible after arriving on campus. Please see important
deadlines below.
Deadline
Oriented Benefits:
- If
interested, enroll in health and dental plans within 30 days
of employment date. The next opportunity will be in November for
the following calendar year
- If
interested, enroll in health and/or dependent care flexible spending
(reimbursement) accounts within 30 days of employment to be effective
the next quarter following your date of employment
- If
you are a full-time employee and thus eligible for life insurance,
the enrollment Form must be completed and returned
