ELIGIBILITY
Full-time
or regular part-time faculty members with the rank of Lecturer, Instructor,
Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor are eligible
for faculty housing and have renewal privileges. The Dean of the College
will determine the rank of Lecturers for the purposes of housing.
Other individuals
with teaching duties are eligible for non-renewable faculty housing
leases if housing units remain after all eligible faculty and administrators
have been housed. Instructors in Science Laboratory shall be eligible
for faculty housing on a renewable lease basis after priority is given
to members of the professional ranks and instructors.
Instructors
in Science Laboratory shall be eligible for faculty housing on an automatically
renewable lease basis. For the eligibility point system of College housing,
after 7 years of service an Instructor in Science Laboratory shall have
the same status as a beginning assistant professor, and shall continue
one year-point per year of service thereafter.
Certain
administrative positions, namely, the Chief of Police, the Director
of Residence, and the Director of Housing and Transportation, are eligible
for faculty housing with renewal privileges according to the point system
in Section III.
In extraordinary
circumstances, the Faculty Benefits Committee will consider requests
for exceptions regarding eligibility, renewal privileges, and priority
for faculty housing. Such requests should come from the President, the
Dean of the College, the Dean of Students, and the Vice President for
Finance and Administration on behalf of individuals who report to them.
Ordinarily, individuals without renewal privileges will not be permitted
to remain in faculty housing for more than 5 years.
Houses
are intended for faculty members with dependents. They may be offered
to those without dependents only if there is no eligible person on the
waiting list with dependents. See Section I.C.
A faculty
member who owns a house in the general vicinity of the College is not
eligible for faculty housing, although exceptions are made for transitional
situations.
