Computer Removal
Computers and printers have been removed
from the residence hall computer rooms and most of the computers from
the Science Center Mini-Focus.
The Science Center – still 24x7
4 email stations and a printer will remain
in the Mini-Focus.
SCI
E101 and SCI 257 will remain open and provide access to flatbed
scanners and additional printers.
Wireless access is available throughout the entire
building.
Instructions for
printing from your laptop to the Mini-Focus printer
will be found next to the printer and online before the start of the
fall semester.
Because the building will
remain open 24x7, students will still be able to use
departmental computing resources if available. Please
speak with your academic department for access policies and
guidelines.
Computing Resources Across Campus
Wireless access for your
laptops and mobile devices will be available throughout every library,

In-Room Telephone
Services
With students overwhelmingly using
cellular and mobile devices, and the results from surveys identifying
that phone service is no longer an important offering, we have made the
decision that beginning this Fall we will no longer provide a telephone
line in each student room. However, to accommodate the need for casual
calling and for emergency calls there will be at least one phone placed
on every floor of each residence hall installed before Fall. Each
telephone will have the capability of making local and toll free calls.
Student Computing Help
Adding student support to the Computing Help Desk
has been a tremendous success and will continue this Fall. Computing
First Aid will no longer span the entire semester -- instead additional
computing help outside the Help Desk's normal hours will be available
during peak times, particularly at the beginning of the semester.
Media Services Support Policy
Due to
staffing reductions, Media Services must reduce its support for events.
Given our reduced capacity, and the College's prioritizing of the core
academic enterprise, Media Services will be focusing our AV support
resources on the academic program and curricular events. Examples of
academic and curricular events include (but are not limited to):
Wellesley College course meetings, the Tanner and Ruhlman conferences,
the Albright Institute Wintersession Program and faculty symposium, the
Wilson lecture.
For other events, Media Services is:
- increasing the availability of self-service equipment and
procedures, allowing Wellesley users to better handle their projection
and audio needs by themselves, and
- recommending third-party AV firms, where needed, to event organizers.
