What, if any, technology fee is charged by the campus?
What does it cover?
There is no technology fee at Wellesley College.
Will
you be required to purchase your own computerequipment and software?
No, students are not
required to purchase computers at Wellesley College, but are
strongly encouraged to do so. Most students do bring a computer
with them. In 2007-8, First Year Students were surveyed and only a handful of respondents had not yet acquired a computer by the beginning of the second semester. Due to the increasing presence of wireless
access and instructors requesting that students bring computers
to classes or labs, it is strongly recommended that the computer
you bring to campus be a portable (formerly known as laptop).
Does
the campus make computing and network access financially accessible?
Is special student pricing offered for computers and peripheral
equipment?
Network connections are provided
in the residence halls where there is a "port per pillow," which
means a network connection is available for each student in her residence
hall room. Students who bring
notebook computers have other connection options such as wireless access
and notebook computer stations in several academic buildings.
Vendors such as Lenovo, Dell
and Apple have educational pricing programs that are available to Wellesley
students, faculty and staff.
