This course explores the works of women writers and philosophers, sociologists and educators, political activists and legislators, film directors, dancers and singers from 1922 to 2007. Cultural studies and feminist issues are discussed through selected literary texts, historical readings, essays on Italian legislation, film/documentary viewing, study of folk dancing and myths, and listening to lullabies, feminist, rock and pop songs. Women's art and roles, rights and work, health and reproduction, prostitution and crime, fashion and beauty myths, music and trance, are presented through various media in a broad socio-political-historical context as well as in a cross-disciplinary approach.
