Attendance is mandatory.  Each additional absence after 3 will affect your final grade. 1 absence (after 3)=3% off; 2 absences (after 3) 6% off; etc.

 

Homework: Workbook (W) and laboratory (L) exercises are mandatory.  They are due on Mondays at the end of each unit.

 

Exams: weekly in-class quizzes and take-home exams alternate during the semester.  Quizzes are always on Mondays, take-home exams are always due on Mondays.

 

Tutoring is available and highly recommended, for it presents a good opportunity to get individual attention.  An Italian assistant is available for 25 hrs every week in the Department. Tutors are available also through the Learning and Teaching Center.  Your instructor will ask you to get one if she sees the need for some extra help.

 

Final grade:

5 quizzes (20%)

5 take-home exams (20%)

Mid-term Exam (20%)

Attendance, participation, and homework (15%)

Final exam (written 15%, oral 10%)
