Title:
The Development of Women¯s Sense of Self
Author(s):
Jean Baker Miller
Abstract:
Current psychological definitions of the self emphasize separation and individuation but may neglect the intricacies of human interconnection. Psychological characteristics that result from such interconnection have not been incorporated into prevalent conceptions of the self and development. Data derived from the close examination of women can lead to new understanding of both women and men.
