Title:
Women's Self Development in Late Adolescence
Author(s):
Alexandra G. Kaplan, Rona Klein, Nancy A. Gleason
Abstract:
In contrast with prior theories, relational theory views adolescence for women as one phase in an ongoing process of relational development. Adolescent women need growth and change, not "separation." The college dynamic, which emphasizes competitive achievement, leads to separation and isolation, thus impairing women students' sense of well-being.
