Title:
Growing Up Intellectually: Issues for College Women
Author(s):
Blythe Clinchy, Claire Zimmerman
Abstract:
Excerpts from interviews with college women are used to illustrate two modes of knowing, separate and connected, which emphasize critical examination and the attempts to understand another person's frame of reference, respectively. Many college women become skilled in separate knowing but have difficulty becoming accomplished connected knowers.
