2007 Spring Professional Seminar — NEW!

The Brain Connection:
Building Resilient Relationships and Flexible Brains

Friday, April 27, 2007

Morning Session: 9:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Afternoon Session: 1:30 - 4:00 PM

5 Continuing Education Credits

General Description

Relationships are at the core of human development. Emerging neuroscience research supports the central premise of Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT), that people grow in relationship!

When we are excluded, shamed, or isolated, we suffer and our brains are affected. Healing involves building resilience in relationship and shifting our brain chemistry.

This professional seminar will provide practical, accessible explanations of brain function and the power of relationships, emphasizing the interactive dynamics of the central nervous system and our relational worlds.

Key topics include:

  • The mutuality of the early mother-infant dyad.
  • The power of exclusion in adolescent relationships.
  • How chronic stress and trauma shape our brain and our relationships.
  • How the plasticity of the brain contributes to healing.
